BERLINER WINE TROPHY 2022<br>Germany

The Berliner Wine Trophy, the world’s largest independent wine competition, exceeded expectations with more than 8458 wines from all over the world.

The medals have been awarded in their respective categories, and these correspond to 51 Grand Gold medals and 2486 Golds.

Detailed results and other information. The results have already been audited by different entities such as the OIV, UIOE and VINOFED, to certify the neutrality and traceability of the evaluation process.

The BWT team recognized the same trends in the wines entered as in the main international markets, such as the increase in organic and sustainable wines.

The other aspect that follows the path upwards is the overall quality of the products; the results recorded show the average points have risen considerably.

VINALIES INTERNATIONAL 2022<br>France

The 28th edition of the Vinalies internationales, the emblem of oenologists’ know-how, was held from 11 to 13 February 2022 in Paris.

123 expert tasters, French and foreign, oenologists and wine professionals, renowned in their country, tasted 2244 wines. After 3 days of tasting, the oenologists of France unveiled the list of Vinalies Internationales.

673 medals were awarded, 52.3 % of the medal-winning wines were foreign wines. Knowing that the “Palme”, supreme distinction is awarded to the wines that obtain the best score among the “Grand Or” in each category, 5 Palmes were awarded.

Gialdi Vini’s Trentasei 2013 in Ticino, star of the Mondial du Merlot & Assemblages
The 14th edition of the Mondial du Merlot & Assemblages took place in Sierre on November 5, 6 and 7. The 389 registered wines from 14 different countries were judged by a panel of 18 international professional judges. In the end, 107 medals were awarded, including 3 Grand Gold medals for German, Ticino and Valais wines! The Trentasei 2013 of the Ticino company Gialdi Vini is the star oft he competition, winning the Vinofed Prize, the prize for the best old vintage, the prize for the best Swiss wine and the prize for the best wine of the competition!

The Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada 2021 was held from October 7 to 10, 2021 at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) in Montreal. The producers definitely showed up, registering 1,910 wines, coming from 32 countries. The members of the jury, after four days of tasting, reveal all the winners of this 28th edition. Catad’Or World Wine Awards and Catad’Or World Spirits Awards

The 26th edition of Catad’Or World Wine Awards and Catad’Or World Spirits Awards concludes with 1,300 samples evaluated from 20 countries.

The contest that was held between November 2 and 5 at the Hotel Cumbres Lastarria. Catad’Or World Wine Awards delivered 47 Grand Gold, 268 Gold, 13 special trophies to the best in each category among 971 participating samples from 16 countries.

On the other hand, with the participation of 11 countries, a contest 100% dedicated to spirits products, Catad’Or World Spirits Awards, was inaugurated this year, the contest awarded 126 medals distributed in more than 120 producers from 11 participating countries. see the press release

Slovak red wine wins Prix VINOFED at Danube Wine Challenge 2021
After a two-year enforced break caused by the pandemic, the Danube Wine Challenge took place on 20-24 October 2021 at the iconic Château Béla, Slovakia. The organisers managed to assemble a stellar jury, which included top international tasters from 16 countries around the world. The Danube Wine Challenge is the top event of the wine year not only in Slovakia, but also in Central Europe. In total, more than 500 wines from 11 countries were evaluated. Under the strict OIV rules, only 30% of them could be awarded medals, of which 11 Double gold, 115 Gold and 25 Silver. In addition, other special awards were given. Prix VINOFED goes to the Slovak red wine Amicius Cabernet Sauvignon 2018.

25th Berliner Wine Trophy – Summer Edition 2021
The summer edition of the Berliner Wine Trophy 2021 has successfully come to an end. Almost 150 international experts have demonstrated their tasting skills for ten consecutive days. Their exemplary behaviour, complying with all sanitary standards, enabled them to taste more than 6,000 wines from 42 countries. In compliance with the strict OIV regulations, only 30% of the wines received a medal.

The late appointment has not prevented participants from placing their full trust in the BWT, which is considered to be Germany’s most influential wine challenge. By 2021, both editions of the competition totalled more than 14,200 samples, making the Berliner Wine Trophy the largest independent wine competition in the world (without being affiliated/associated with a media or commercial group).

Pinot Blanc from the Czech Republic wins Best Wine of Mondial des Pinots 2021
The tasting sessions of the 24th Mondial des Pinots competition were held place in Sierre from 27 – 29 August, featuring 1037 entries from 335 producers and 20 different countries. The 47 judges from 15 different countries were impressed by the wines and awarded no less than 10 Grand Gold medals, 154 Gold and 143 Silver. The competition saw another first, with a Pinot Blanc winning multiple awards. Produced by Znovin Znojmo (Moravia, Czech Republic), Pinot Blanc Rulandska bilé 2018 won not only a Grand Gold medal and the title of Best Pinot Blanc, but also the Best Wine of the Competition award with an exceptional score of 93.6/100. German Pinot Noir Rotwein trocken Pfalz 2019 from Weingut Brenneis-Koch (Bad-Durkeim) take the Prix Vinofed (Best Dry Wine)

Mondial des Vins Extrêmes
The wine competition “Mondial des Vins Extrêmes” – the wine-tastings of which took place in Aosta Valley from 15th to 16th July – is the only competition in the world fully dedicated to wines of “heroic” viticulture (above 500 meters above sea level, terrain inclination above 30%, terraced vineyards, vineyards cultivated on small islands). With 838 wines registered presented by 302 wineries coming from 22 countries, this 2021 edition, despite the persistence of the Covid 19 pandemic, recorded a large participation, second only to the 2019 edition. For the first time, wines from Serbia participated. As for wine from Bolivia and Chile, they made a comeback after an absence of several years. In the end, 18 Grand Golden Medals 198 Golden Medals and 68 Silver Medals were attributed. A confirmation of the great quality of the participating wines

The Awards will take place on 10th October 2021 in Milan. A special event, as part of the Milan Wine Week, will be organized.

Record number of entered samples, excellent flights, hard work for the judges
the results of one of the most prestigious international wine competitions in Central Europe have arrived. The 22nd VinAgora International Wine Competition received 960 samples from 16 wine-producing countries – a new record. The outstanding quality of the wines required a lot of attention from the 60 jury members.

80% of the samples received a score corresponding to a silver medal quality, that is, at least 83 points. However, according to the rules of OIV and VINOFED, only the best 30% of wines in each main category are allowed to win a medal. Based on the medal score limits finalized accordingly, 13 Grand Gold, 169 Gold, 108 Silver medals, 7 main-category-winner Champion awards, and another 23 special prizes have been awarded.
