The Danube Wine Challenge 2025 reaffirmed its position as Slovakia’s most prestigious wine competition and one of the 14 elite international wine contests under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) and member of VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions).
Held at the picturesque Château Béla in southern Slovakia, the competition brought together renowned wine experts from 12 countries across 4 continents, who evaluated 740 wine samples according to the strictest international standards.

Citadelles du Vin 2025: 25 Years Celebrating Global Wine Excellence
A COMPETITION OPEN TO THE WORLD The latest edition of Citadelles du Vin was held in Bourg-sur-Gironde, near Bordeaux, on 30 March 2025.

It celebrated 25 years of existence of this high-level competition, which has been organised by the C.D.V. (Concours Des Vins) since 2000 and is known for its independence and rigour. It is also patronized by the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine). On this 25-year anniversary, the competition kept to its promises by welcoming 45 tasters from 21 different nationalities. As always, the results reflected the richness and diversity of the world’s wine production, with 120 wines rewarded out of 433 competing samples from 21 countries. 4 wines particularly stood out and were awarded by a Grand Gold medal, while 78 wines received Gold medals and 38 Silver medals.

Once again this year, the Citadelles du Vin competition was true to its reputation for openness. Brazilian winegrowers particularly excelled this year, winning 3 of the 11 Special Prizes awarded by the juries. Wines from Portugal, Israel, France, Spain and Greece were just as remarkable and also received Special Prizes, reminding us of what this multi-category competition, resolutely turned towards showcasing wine producers from around the world, stands for. The Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg, the only international wine competition entirely dedicated to the full diversity of white wines, took place on April 5 and 6, 2025, at the Strasbourg Congress Centre.

Held under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) and as a proud member of VINOFED, the event celebrated its 27th edition, placing excellence and trends at the forefront.

Bacchus 2025 International Competition for Wines, Vermouth, and Wine & Grape Spirits
The largest wine competition held in Spain, Bacchus 2025, publishes its complete list of medals. A total of 587 labels, including wines, vermouths, and spirits, the highest scores among the 1,698 participating samples, earned the coveted Grandes Bacchus de Oro, Bacchus de Oro, and Bacchus de Plata awards.

Spain stands at the top of the podium, but Bacchus also consolidates its position as the largest Ibero-American showcase worldwide, with wines and spirits from Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil, and Portugal as the undisputed stars of its list of winners. Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Moldova, and to a lesser extent Germany and Australia, complete the international Bacchus 2025 podium.

Special mention goes to the 50 Great Gold Bacchus, labels that exceed 93 points in the rating by the Bacchus 2025 tasting panel. Among them, Ryzling Rinsky 2022 from the Vladimir Tetur winery in the Czech Republic, Sinfo Rose 2024 from Bodegas Sinforiano, Beronia Gran Reserva 1982 from Bodegas Beronia and Vinyes de Can Sala de Cavas J. Hill (Ferrer Miranda) receive additional recognition as Best White, Rosé, Red and Sparkling Wine of Bacchus 2025, awards given by the World Federation of Major Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED) in the corresponding categories.

The International Bacchus Competition, organized since 1996 by the Spanish Wine Tasters Association, was a successful event. On its twenty-third anniversary, it included all types of spirits for the first time in its registry. Around one hundred leading national and international opinion leaders (sommeliers, communicators, importers, purchasing managers) were responsible for evaluating all the participating samples in a strict blind tasting.

VINALIES INTERNATIONALES - 31st EDITION
The 31st edition concluded on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Cannes, after 5 days of competition that brought together more than 100 expert tasters, including oenologists, sommeliers, journalists, and others, to judge the 2,684 products in competition.

At the end of this edition, 806 medals were awarded, including 171 Grand Gold medals, 603 Gold medals, and 32 Silver medals.

This competition, a member of VINOFED, is organized by the Union of French Oenologists. This year, expert tasters of 26 different nationalities evaluated 2,683 samples from 36 countries from all over the world, among them: 44% white wines, 32% red wines, and 24% rosé wines.

THE 29TH EDITION OF THE CATAD'OR WORLD WINE AWARDS AND THE 4TH EDITION OF THE CATAD'OR WORLD SPIRITS AWARDS CONCLUDES IN CHILE
The 29th edition of the Catad'Or World Wine Awards and the 4th edition of the Catad'Or World Spirits Awards have concluded in Chile, further solidifying its international prestige.

In this 29th edition, the Catad'Or World Wine Awards awarded a total of 313 medals, including 23 Grand Gold and 290 Gold, reaffirming its position as one of the most influential wine competitions in the world. Meanwhile, at the 4th Catad'Or World Spirits Awards, 205 medals were presented, including 14 Grand Gold, 67 Gold, and 124 Silver.

A Record-Breaking Competition
This year’s competition received 1,300 samples from 17 countries, which were evaluated by 80 international experts, following the strict guidelines set by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV). The evaluation process was supervised by OIV observers Thierry Gasco and VINOFED’s Fernando Gurucharri.

Italy was the honored guest country this year, and the results were announced at the traditional awards ceremony held on November 23. The event was followed by a tasting of the award-winning products. Over 400 people attended, including representatives from the wine and spirits industries, the accredited diplomatic corps in Chile, specialized press, and public and private sector authorities.

The 31st edition of the Sélections Mondiales des Vins competition has just ended. The jury has made its choice and crowned this year's big winners.

The lists unveiled today highlight the products that received the highest scores in the competition, all categories and all countries combined.

These renowned rankings aim to highlight the products that have best distinguished themselves in the Sélections Mondiales des Vins competition and to facilitate their eventual entry into the Quebec, Canadian and American markets.

The winning products named among these lists will be able to proudly display the "Top 50 Wine Winner" or "Top 25 Sake Winner" visual, which will be offered to them free of charge. They will be able to pair it with the medals on sale on our website.

Partnership with the SAQ
For a fourth year, the list of the Top 50 best scores will be submitted to our partner, the SAQ. Among these, 25 unrepresented products will obtain free access, offered by the Sélections Mondiales des Vins competition, to the SAQ product catalogue. The SAQ product marketing team will eventually include these wines in its acquisition plan so that they can be tasted and, based on their evaluation, marketed.

The 24th edition of Citadelles du Vin concluded under beautiful sunshine, with the professionalism of 35 tasters from 21 nationalities who evaluated 455 samples from 17 countries and awarded 137 medals (23 Grand Gold, 105 Gold, and 9 Silver).

Bacchus 2024 announced its medal winners

BACCHUS, INTERNATIONAL WINE, VERMOUTH, AND SPIRITS COMPETITION Spain's largest wine competition, has released its complete list of medal winners. A total of 621 labels, including wines, vermouths, and wine-based spirits, earned the top ratings out of the 1,985 samples entered, achieving the coveted Grand Gold Bacchus, Gold Bacchus, and Silver Bacchus awards.

Spain takes the top spot on the podium, but Bacchus also solidifies its position as the largest Ibero-American showcase worldwide, with wines and spirits from Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Portugal standing out in its list of winners. Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Moldova, along with Germany, Italy, France, Australia, and New Zealand to a lesser extent, round out the most international podium ever seen at Bacchus.

A special mention goes to the 76 Grand Gold Bacchus winners, labels that scored over 93 points as evaluated by the Bacchus 2024 tasting panel. Among them, Itsasmendi Artizar 2018 from Bodegas Itsasmendi, Salgüero Rosado 2019 from Bodegas Prado Rey, Beronia Gran Reserva 1973 from Bodegas Beronia, Cuvée 1887 Brut Nature Organic from Cavas Hill (Ferrer Miranda), Amontillado Añada 1975 from González Byass, and Brandy Fundador Sherry Cask from Bodegas Fundador receive additional recognition as the Best White, Rosé, Red, Sparkling, Generous, and Spirit of Bacchus 2024, as well as corresponding awards from the World Federation of Major Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED) in their respective categories.

Finally, regarding the awards dedicated to the Best Winemakers of Bacchus 2024, the trio consists of José Hidalgo Togores (Still Wines - Pago de los Capellanes and others), Brazilian Joao Valduga (Sparkling Wines - Casa Valduga), Victoria Frutos Climent (Generous and Liqueur Wines - Grupo Estevez), and Marcos Alguacil (Wine-based Spirits - Bodegas Osborne).

The International Bacchus Competition, organized since 1996 by the Spanish Tasters' Union, has been a resounding success, celebrating its twenty-second anniversary by including wine-based spirits (Brandy, Orujo, Pisco, and Singani) for the first time.

25th VinAgora International Wine Competition, Hungary
The 25th anniversary of the VinAgora International Wine Competition took place from 5-8 April in Budapest, one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. Hungary's only international wine competition had been eagerly anticipated by Hungarian and international winemakers who had submitted samples for evaluation by the judges.

This year, a total of 876 entries were received from 13 countries, with 674 from Hungary and 202 from abroad, including Australia, Brazil, Spain, France, Germany, Lebanon, Switzerland, and Italy. The competition featured 69 judges from 17 countries, including Hungary, and the organisers ensured that the event maintained the highest possible quality, with 31 staff members present at all times.

The organisers also arranged pleasant afternoon programmes for the professionals to relax. The wines were judged according to the method recommended by the OIV (International Vine and Wine Office) and the rigorous standards set by VinoFed (Federation of Major International Wine Competitions). To maintain quality, no more than 35 wines were judged by one person on a single day, exceeding even the strictest rules due to the concentration and sensory strain required for judging.

Le Mondial des Vins Blancs of Strasbourg released its results on Monday, March 18th, at the égast professional trade fair, unveiling Special Awards, including the 2024 Grand Jury Prize won by Les Vignobles Ruhlmann-Schutz with a score of 96 points for Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives 2021.

Le Mondial des Vins Blancs of Strasbourg evaluated 651 samples from 20 countries, with the participation of 70 worldwide expert wine judges representing 26 nationalities. These judges awarded medals to wines from 1GURUCHARRI and Deputy Vice-President Edita DURCOVA, Austria, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, and the United States.

In the medal list, products can be identified by the winery, denomination, type of medal, location, and country, and classified according to the 12 categories of the competition, namely: Chardonnay, Chenin, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon, Sylvaner, Viognier, Blend, Other white grape varieties.

For the 14th consecutive year, the OIV renewed its patronage and was represented on site for the rigorous controls by Prof. Dr. Monika CHRISTMANN, Honorary President and Prof. Dr. Arina ANTOCE, Representative of Romania to the OIV.

This year, the Mondial also celebrated the 10th anniversary of its membership in the very selective World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED) represented by President Fernando GURUCHARRI and Deputy Vice-President Edita DURCOVA who validated the conformity of the conduct of the competition according to the strict rules imposed.
