For its 15th edition, the Mondial du Merlot et assemblages returned to the land that saw its birth, the Ticino or the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The canton south of the Alps hosted the tastings from April 29 to May 1.
398 wines from 14 countries were registred, tasted by 20 judges from 7 different countries. The Sassi Grossi 2016 from Gialdi of Mendrisio (Switzerland-Tessin) was a hit and won the prizes for best Swiss wine, best wine of the competition and best old vintage. The Vinofed awards go to the white Espe n°5 2021 from Tamborini and the red Sottotore 2018 from Reto dell'Ambrogio, both from Ticino. All results here.
